LAUNCH OF CINEMO

01 April 2025

At the 78th edition of the Cannes Film Festival (May 13 to 24), the CANAL+ and Art Explora Foundations will inaugurate CinéMo, a mobile cinema with a free and committed cinematographic programme. Bringing together both foundations’ missions in service of culture availability, the CinéMo will crisscross mainland France to meet every audience.

CinéMo

Designed to accommodate 72 seats with CNC-compliant screening quality and a 7.1 sound system, the CinéMo aims to give a taste of cinema to audiences furthest from theatres, in the Quartiers Politiques de la Ville and rural areas. As a tool for raising awareness and image education, it will offer a selection of films curated by a dedicated jury made of personalities from cinema and civil society. Didactic workshop and thematic mediation tools for diverse audiences will complement the various screenings.

The CinéMo’s creation is in line with the development of Art Explora’s cultural trucks fleet, in conjunction with two active museum-trucks in partnership with the Centre Pompidou, the Centre national des arts plastiques (CNAP) and the Fonds régionaux d’art contemporain (Frac). The CANAL+ Foundation is the main patron of this new mobile project, affirming its dedication to make cinema available for everyone, in as many territories as possible.

Inauguration of the CinéMo at Cannes on May 17, 2025

The CinéMo will be inaugurated during the Cannes Film Festival and opened to the public between May 13th and May 24th in the heart of La Bocca neighbourhood. To celebrate this inaugural week, the CinéMo will screen a selection of films, including some of STUDIOCANAL’s library, the in-house studio of CANAL+, an international film producer and distributor, home to one of the most prestigious film libraries in the world.

After its launch at Cannes, the Cinémo will head toward Île-de-France with a new programme for the first stop of its tour. From July 1 to October 11, it will be taking its quarters in the Quartiers Politique de la Ville and in the most rural surrounding areas of the region.

Stéphane Roussel, president of the CANAL+ Foundation: “With the CinéMo project, the CANAL+ Foundation is proud to further its dedication toward a cinema available to the largest audience possible. CANAL+’s passion for cinema, along with Art Explora’s commitment to culture availability and STUDIOCANAL’s strength thanks to its library, shape CinéMo as a formidable project to pass on the pleasure of cinema, to share emotions, to bound while promoting cinematographic creation and its professions, of which CANAL+ is the leading partner in France.

Ingrid Brochard, Founder of the MuMo and director of cultural trucks development, Art Explora Foundation: “For over ten years, we have proven that culture could meet everyone, everywhere, thanks to MuMo. With CinéMo, we follow that mission and shine a new light on cinema, this art that brings people together, moves them and makes them think. We are proud to integrate this new truck into the Art Explora fleet and to provide, with the CANAL+ Foundation, never-seen-before access to cinema for those who are farthest from it.
