CANAL+ INAUGURATES THE MANCALA STUDIOS IN ABIDJAN, A NEW DRIVING FORCE BEHIND AFRICAN AUDIOVISUAL PRODUCTION

20 October 2026

CANAL+ inaugurates the MANCALA studios in Abidjan, a state-of-the-art facility designed to speed up production, reveal talent and build a sustainable framework for the African audiovisual industry.

Located in the heart of Abidjan, the MANCALA studios comprise three complementary and modular sets dedicated to the production of entertainment programmes, talk-shows, magazine programmes, gameshows, cultural programmes and major events. Designed to the highest standards, they provide creators, producers and technicians with an environment able to foster the development of new formats and strengthen local expertise.

With a production capacity of over 1,000 hours of programmes per year, the MANCALA studios amplify CANAL+’s commitment to producing more content in Africa, with African talent, for an ever-growing audience. They form a part of an already strong momentum: more than 10,000 hours of content produced each year in around thirty languages across French-speaking African countries.

This ambition also relies on an essential factor: training and passing on expertise.

Through partnerships with leading institutions, notably the ISTC Polytechnique and the INSAAC, the MANCALA studios build concrete bridges between academic training and careers in the audiovisual sector.

Hosting students, on-set immersion, exploring different careers, internships, meetings with professionals and the sharing of expertise will enable a new generation of talent to receive training that closely mirrors real-world production conditions.

The site will host the productions from the CANAL+ channels and will also be open to external producers, broadcasters, agencies, institutions and companies, making the MANCALA studios a production platform serving the whole audiovisual ecosystem.

With the MANCALA studios, CANAL+ is investing in a state-of-the-art facility and asserting its role as a long-term partner in the development of African talent and audiovisual creation.
