STUDIOCANAL EXPANDS ITS LIBRARY WITH THE ACQUISITION OF 16 FEATURE FILMS PRODUCED BY NORD-OUEST

STUDIOCANAL, the European leader in the production, distribution and international sales of feature films and TV series, is announcing it has acquired 16 of its feature films from the production company Nord-Ouest.

Born from the meeting of Christophe Rossignon, Philip Boëffard and Pierre Guyard and with a library of more than fifty feature films, the Nord-Ouest production company is a long-standing partner of STUDIOCANAL. Recent collaborative projects include “The Animal Kingdom” (2023) by Thomas Cailley, nominated 12 times and awarded 5 times at the 2024 César Awards, which STUDIOCANAL co-produced with Nord-Ouest, and distributed in France and internationally across its regions.

At the end of February 2024, STUDIOCANAL and Nord-Ouest signed an agreement allowing STUDIOCANAL to acquire 16 of Nord-Ouest’s exceptional cinematographic works, including director Thomas Cailley’s first film, “Love at First Fight” (2014), which won 3 awards at the 2015 Césars (Best First Film, Best Actress and Most Promising Actor). With 15 other feature films completing this agreement, the appeal and diversity of STUDIOCANAL’s catalogue is greatly increased.

In addition to Thomas Cailley's Love at First Fight, this agreement also includes:

  • Mon Garçon (2017), a thriller by Christian Carion, with Guillaume Canet and Mélanie Laurent;
  • Three animated stories created by Michel Ocelot that immerse young and old alike in exotic, timeless worlds: Dragons and Princesses (2010), Tales of the Night (2011), and_ Dilili in Paris_ (2018);
  • The first two parts of Stéphane Brizé's social trilogy, directed by Vincent Lindon: The Measure of a Man (2015) and At war (2018);
  • Welcome (2009), a drama film by Philippe Lioret;
  • Intimate films by director Mikhaël Hers, including This Summer Feeling (2009), Memory Lane (2010) and Amanda (2018);
  • In the Forests of Siberia (2016) by Safy Nebbou (based on the book by Sylvain Tesson)

STUDIOCANAL already distributed some of Michel Ocelot’s films. Thanks to this agreement, STUDIOCANAL will now be responsible for distributing these 16 works in France and abroad, in cinemas, on physical video and video on demand, as well as on all traditional television channels and platforms.

Juliette Hochart, STUDIOCANAL’S Executive Vice President in charge of the Library, comments: "We’re delighted with this agreement and infinitely grateful to the Nord-Ouest teams for trusting us with films they have developed, produced and managed with all the passion that drives them. We will put all our enthusiasm into supporting these works and these great filmmakers to continue to ensure they exist for the public."
