Experience
Gérald-Brice Viret has served as CEO of CANAL+ France, in charge of Programmes and Channels since November 2022 and has been a Standing attendee of the CANAL+ Management Board since April 2026.
He joined CANAL+ in 2015 as Managing Director of Channels and Programmes in France.
Before joining CANAL+, Gérald-Brice Viret developed a recognised expertise in the media and audiovisual sector, successively holding executive positions across several groups. He began his career as a journalist, then as Head of Programming for several regional television stations (8 Mont-Blanc, Télé Lyon Métropole, Antilles Télévision), before joining France 3 in 1994 as Editor-in-Chief of the television programme Continentales. In 1996, he joined the Pathé Group, where he contributed to the launch of the channel Voyage, later becoming its Head of Programming and then Deputy Managing Director. Appointed Managing Director of TMC in 2002, he notably oversaw the channel’s launch on DTT in 2005. In 2006, he moved to NRJ Group and became Head of NRJ12 channel, developed a Television division, and launched NRJ Hits, NRJ Paris, and Chérie 25. Finally, in 2013, he became Deputy Director of Lagardère Active’s television activities (Gulli, Gulli Africa, Canal J, TiJi, June, MCM, Mezzo, Mezzo Live, RFM TV, Virgin Radio TV). Between 2013 and 2015, he also served as President of ACCES.
Gérald-Brice Viret holds a Master’s degree (Master II) in “Cinema, Television and New Media” from Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne University.
