THE CANAL+ APP: INNOVATION AT THE HEART OF THE NEW EXPERIENCE

11 June 2025

CANAL+, a major player in the tech industry, is unveiling new features for its application, the CANAL+ App. Determined to be present wherever its subscribers consume content and to support their evolving habits, CANAL+ is pushing the boundaries of entertainment into new environments by partnering with companies that share the same culture of innovation and excellence.

1. CANAL+, A LEADER IN ENTERTAINMENT AND TECHNOLOGY WITH THE CANAL+ APP AS ITS TECHNOLOGICAL SHOWCASE

The second-largest investment area after content, technology is a strategic pillar for CANAL+. Each year, it invests more than €1 billion in technology. The group can call on 2,000 experts worldwide and a technological arsenal consisting of, among other things, 15,000 servers, 9,000 client machines and 10 orbital positions to provide satellite broadcasting

The CANAL+ App is unique for:

  • its rich, diverse content, with nearly 1 million items of content across all geographical areas;

  • the combination within one package of live content, replay and subscription videos on demand (SVOD);

  • its live capabilities with access to more than 2,000 channels, 50,000 hours of live content a year and the first multiplex in history with 18 live channels simultaneously;

  • the number and reputation of aggregated platforms (Netflix, Apple TV+, HBO Max, Paramount+, BeIN, Eurosport and Dailymotion) - no app in the world aggregates so many.

Already established in more than 40 countries and territories, the CANAL+ App continues its international expansion. The group plans to roll it out in all its operating regions, starting with all Eastern European countries by the end of 2026, followed by Asia.

2. THE NEW CANAL+ APP EXPERIENCE: NAVIGATE THROUGH CONTENT HAS NEVER BEEN EASIER

The new CANAL+ App player will be rolled out gradually over the next few days. It offers a smoother, clearer, more intuitive experience, optimised to adapt to all screens. Navigate content has never been easier!

  • Smoother: For effortless navigation

The CANAL+ App experience refocuses content navigation on useful features and improves the clarity, position and size of each of the icons.

  • More intuitive: Features available at your fingertips

All the features of the CANAL+ App have been designed to be 100% intuitive and accessible at your fingertips: zooming, increasing or lowering the volume, adjusting the brightness and even controlling screen rotation are now done with a simple movement on the screen.

Particularly popular with test subscribers, a new timeline is now accessible by long-pressing the screen, allowing you to navigate through content as you wish

  • Content at the heart of the experience

To enhance the live experience, the CANAL+ App’s features have been supplemented with:

  • New zapping inspired by social networks: swipe to change channels;

  • Direct access to the channel's current, upcoming and past programmes;

  • Information on the current programme accessible directly on the screen;

  • Direct access to all episodes of the series.

Navigate through content has never been easier!

3. INNOVATIVE AND PIONEERING PARTNERSHIPS WITH APPLE, RENAULT, BMW AND AIR FRANCE ENABLE CANAL+ TO BE ON EVERY SCREEN, WHEREVER ITS SUBSCRIBERS CONSUME

  • CANAL+ previews a new immersive sports experience for Apple Vision Pro: a world first

CANAL+ announced today it is continuing its tradition of pioneering innovation with a new Apple Immersive sports documentary for Apple Vision Pro that will be available this September.

Produced in collaboration with Apple and MotoGP™, a competition organized by Dorna, this new documentary event is the first Apple Immersive Video production filmed entirely with the new Blackmagic URSA Cine Immersive camera. CANAL+ will be the first global studio to publish content in this exciting new storytelling format for Vision Pro.

The CANAL+ App for Vision Pro has been available since its launch last year, offering subscribers a unique experience for accessing its library of premium content. With this new documentary, CANAL+ subscribers will be able to follow Johann Zarco, the French MotoGP™ racer, and his team through their historic victory at the French Grand Prix as if they were right there.

  • The CANAL+ App continues the pioneering experience in connected cars

CANAL+ App, the first video app on board the Alpine A390

Available on Renault connected cars equipped with OpenR Link in France, Switzerland and Poland since October 2024, CANAL+ App will be the first video application pre-installed by default in Alpine vehicles. Starting today, our subscribers will have access to CANAL+ content in Alpine cars, including the A390, to be launched at the end of the year. This new partnership with Renault for distributing the CANAL+ App illustrates the quality of our technological cooperation whose key word is innovation.

CANAL+ App onboard connected BMWs

CANAL+ and BMW join forces to distribute and promote the CANAL+ App in the BMW store in France, Poland and Switzerland. Very soon, CANAL+ content will be available in all vehicles equipped with BMW Operating System 9, and then in all future compatible BMW and MINI vehicles.

  • CANAL+ content on land and in the air thanks to a unique partnership with Air France

Since 1 May 2025, Air France has been offering special access to a selection of CANAL+ programmes on all its long-haul flights. Customers can enjoy CANAL+ Original Creation series, must-see programmes, comedy shows, documentaries, children's programmes and CANAL+ Africa content during their journey.
